Grigor Dimitrov

Bulgaria’s top tennis player Grigor Dimitrov has been defeated by Nicolas Mahut of France by 6:2, 6:7(6), 6:7(4) at the final of the EUR 106,500 challenger tournament in Orleans, France. Thus Grigor suffered his first defeat in a final match of a male tennis tournament.
Throughout the match Grigor Dimitrov won more points than his rival (105 against 95), but in the decisive moments during the two tie-breaks Mahut had stronger nerves and gained a victory in the end.

Up to now the 19-year-old Bulgarian has won every final match he advanced to and has grabbed six futures titles and three challenger ones, but in France this impressive series came to an end.

Bulgaria's best male player, Grigor Dimitrov, continues to climb in ATP rankings to the 114th position with 497 points.

During the last week, Dimitrov leaped 17 spots ahead in the ranking, a success attributed to his excellent play at the EUR 106,500 ATP Challenger in Orleans, France, to become the second only Bulgarian in history ranked among the top 120.

After Orleans, he will take a short break, and immediately after will take part in the "Challenger" tournament in Germany and the last "Masters 1 000" qualifications in Paris.
